Dish Duel Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 25, 2026
Overview
Dish Duel ("the App") is a restaurant discovery game that helps you pick where to eat. This policy explains what data the App collects and how it is used.
Data we collect
Location data
The App requests your device's precise location (GPS) to find nearby restaurants. Your location is:
- Sent to the Google Places API to search for restaurants near you.
- Used locally to display a map and calculate distances.
- Not stored on any server we operate.
- Not shared with any third party beyond Google Places API requests.
Location access is optional. If you deny location permission, the App will display an error screen and will not function, but no data is collected.
Map tiles
The App loads map tiles from MapTiler. When tiles are requested, MapTiler receives the geographic area being viewed. See MapTiler's Privacy Policy for details:
No account or personal information
The App does not require an account and does not collect your name, email, or other personal identifiers.
Third-party services
- Google Places API — receives your location to return restaurant results. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- MapTiler — serves map tiles. Subject to MapTiler's Privacy Policy: https://www.maptiler.com/privacy-policy/
Data retention
The App caches map tiles on your device for up to 14 days to improve performance. No other data is persisted beyond the current session.
You can clear cached data by clearing the App's storage in your device settings.
Children's privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.
